50th Meeting of GST Council on July 11

New Delhi: The fiftieth meeting of the GST Council will be held on July 11 in the national capital.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who heads the GST Council, will chair this fiftieth meeting. It is anticipated that several key decisions related to GST may be taken in this meeting.

In the 49th meeting of the GST Council held on February 18, 2023, the report of the Group of Ministers (GoM) on the GST Appellate Tribunal was adopted with some modifications.

The 48th Meeting of the GST Council was held on December 17, 2022, through video conferencing.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) was introduced in India with effect from July 1, 2017. The states of the nation were assured compensation for loss of any revenue because of the implementation of the GST under the provisions of the GST (Compensation to States) Act, 2017 for a period of five years.
