Accidental Firing Kills Constable in Court Complex in Punjab

Chandigarh: A police constable reportedly died of a gunshot injury in a washroom at the Nawanshahr court complex in Punjab on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased constable, Harvinder Singh, posted at Polewal police station had reportedly accompanied some undertrials to the court.

Constable Harvinder and his colleagues had brought two accused in an attempt-to-murder case, to the courts.

The cop was in the toilet and all of a sudden a gunshot was heard from inside.

Some lawyers rushed inside the toilet and found the dead with a bullet fired from his rifle. The bullet had pierced his head.

The police are investigating the case. It is suspected to be a case of accidental firing.
