Actress Shot Dead on West Bengal Highway

Kolkata: An actress from Jharkhand named Riya Kumari was shot dead at point-blank range on a highway in West Bengal at point-blank range. Her film producer husband Prakash Kumar, who hails from Jharkhand, reported that the incident took place at around 6 am. They were traveling to Kolkata from Ranchi.

Prakash was in the driver’s seat while their three-year-old daughter was also with them.

As per his statement before the police, to attend to nature’s call he had stopped the vehicle near Mahishrekha bridge at Bagnan under the Uluberia sub-division of Howrah district.

At that time three armed robbers had tried to rob money and valuables from them. When the couple resisted, one of the armed persons shot at Riya from close range. She died on the spot. Following this killing, the armed miscreants escaped from the spot.

Riya was taken to the Uluberia sub-division hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
