Assam BJP Leader Arrested for Assaulting Couple for Not Attending Nadda’s Rally

Guwahati: A BJP youth leader, Angshuman Bora, was arrested in Assam’s Sivasagar on Monday night for allegedly beating up a couple who did not attend a rally of BJP’s national president J.P. Nadda held in Charing on June 18.

The couple injured by the BJP youth leader were Tomas Sangma and his wife Purnima Sangma. It is alleged that Angshuman thrashed Purnima badly, who had to be hospitalized. But Tomas managed to escape.

Both are daily labourers. So, they did not prefer to attend the BJP rally and lose a day’s wage.

According to sources, the BJP youth leader came to their house and beat up Purnima with a piece of wood. She was seriously injured. Angshuman also thrashed Tomas.

The couple lodged a complaint at the Gaurisagar police station, following which the the BJP youth leader was arrested.
