Be Cautious! COVID Surge in China Rings Alarm Bells in India

New Delhi: Sudden increase in COVID positive cases in China has made the Indian Health Ministry alert. The Centre has already formulated some preparatory steps to check the possible reemergence of COVID-19 in the country. Today the Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya is scheduled to hold a review meeting regarding it with top officials and experts regarding it.

During this meeting, the strategy to block incoming cases through air travel as well as guidelines for passengers travelling from abroad and the threat of new variants of coronavirus are to be discussed. Preventive measures to check the rise in infection during New Year festivities will also be discussed in this meeting.

Samples of all Covid positive cases should be sent daily to INSACOG genome sequencing labs. INSACOG is a forum under the Health Ministry to study and monitor various strains of COVID in India.

There has been a sudden increase in COVID positive cases in China, Japan, United States of America, Republic of Korea and Brazil.

But India reported only 129 fresh infections and one death due to COVID-19 during past 24 hours.

China is reportedly struggling to contain the recent surge in COVID-related deaths following the relaxation of its Zero Covid policy.
