Three More COVID Cases Identified in Odisha, Two JN.1 Infections Detected

Bhubaneswar: During the past 24 hours, three more persons infected by coronavirus were identified in Odisha. But during the day, five COVID patients recovered. So, the number of active COVID cases in Odisha became 28. According to sources, the condition of all active cases was normal.

out of the total 28 Covid positive patients in Odisha two were found to be infected with JN.1 variant in genome sequencing. One of them is from Sundargarh, who has completed his home isolation. The other JN.1 infected person is admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and his condition is good.

In India, a total of 511 cases of the JN.1 series variant have been reported from 11 states till January 2. Karnataka has reported 199 cases of the sub-variant. Kerala has reported 148 cases. 47 cases have been reported from Goa, 36 from Gujarat, and 32 from Maharashtra.

Odisha is among the 11 states, where a total of 511 cases of the JN.1 variant of COVID have been reported till January 2, the Union Health Ministry informed on Wednesday.

According to the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare Health Department, 775 new COVID cases were detected during the last 24 hours taking the tally to of active cases to 4,423. Two COVID patients died during the period. One death each was reported from Karnataka and Kerala.
