Bengal Firecracker Blast Accused Dies A day After Arrest in Cuttack

Cuttack: The prime accused in the explosion at an illegal firecracker factory at Egra in the East Midnapore district of West Bengal, Krishnapada Bag alias Bhanu, died during treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack on Friday.

A day back the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police had yesterday arrested him from a private nursing home in Cuttack. After the explosion on Tuesday, injured Krishnaprasad escaped from West Bengal to get admitted to this private nursing home in Cuttack for treatment. He had escaped to Odisha along with his son and some close associates.

After his arrest, initially, the personnel of West Bengal CID had thought of shifting him to a hospital in Kolkata. But the doctors attending him at the private nursing home in Cuttack said that his condition was too critical for transfer.

With the death of Krishnaprasad, the toll in the Egra mishap rose to 10.
