“Bribe For AAP Ticket”, 3 Including MLA’s Kin Arrested

New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption wing of Delhi Police has arrested three persons on charges of collecting lakhs in the name of providing AAP ticket for coming Municipal Corporation polls. The arrested persons include a relative and a personal assistant of AAP MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi.

The name of another AAP MLA, Rajesh Gupta, has also cropped up in this racket. Police claim to have arrested the persons on the basis of audio and video proof. The three men were allegedly arrested when they tried to return Rs 33 lakh to a party worker. They had allegedly taken the money to ensure the party, the promise which could not be kept by them.

As per police, the arrested trio had allegedly promised the AAP ticket to Shobha Khari, wife of the complainant Gopal Khari, for Ward 69, Kamla Nagar. But someone else got the AAP ticket for the ward. GopalKhari had handed over audio and video recordings of the backdoor dealings he had made to get the party ticket for his wife.

A case of bribery has been registered against the arrested persons under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the IPC.
