Brown Sugar Worth Rs 1 Cr Seized in Nayagarh; One Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore was seized during a raid conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police in Nayagarh district. One person involved in this illegal narcotics trading was arrested.

Acting on an intelligence report, the STF team raided the den of the narcotics smuggler located in the Fatepur area. The identity of the person from whose possession, the brown sugar was seized has not been disclosed. He is being interrogated by the STF sleuths to find out the whole network of brown sugar smuggling, of which he was a part.

It is suspected that the seized brown sugar had reached Odisha from outside the country, via Jaleswar in the Balasore district. Police are also trying to find out the peddlers involved in the marketing of the contraband.
