Budget 2023: Integrating technology & more finance to boost Agro sector

New Delhi: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the efforts to use technology and digital advancements for the development of the agriculture sector in the country.

Digital Public Infrastructure for Agriculture will enable inclusive farmer-centric solutions & help improve access to farm inputs, market intel, and support for agri industry, startups.

In the Union Budget, she declared to increase the agricultural credit target to Rs 20 lakh crore with a special focus on animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries.

To promote millet production as well as its consumption, the Indian Institute of Millet Research will be supported as a center of excellence.

Added to it, Agriculture Accelerator Fund will be set up to encourage agri startups by young entrepreneurs in rural areas, will bring innovative and affordable solutions for farmers’ challenges, will also enhance profitability and bring modern tech.
