Cattle Smugglers Open Fire at STF in Keonjhar; 2 Arrested

Keonjhar: A group of cattle smugglers allegedly opened fire at a STF team near Judia Bypass in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, today.

According to sources, a team of the Special Task Force of the Crime Branch had gone to Keonjhar to track down the illegal transportation of cattle in trucks.

The STF team and the Keonjhar police tried to intercept the five trucks carrying the animals near the bypass. When stopped by police, the accused opened fire at the cops to escape. The security personnel also fired back.

However, no one was injured in the exchange of fire.

The cops nabbed the drivers of two trucks, but three others managed to flee.

Police have arrested both the accused and started investigation.
