CBI Team to Arrive in Imphal After Fresh Tension, to Investigate Students’ Death Case

New Delhi: Fresh Tension arises in Manipur after the kidnapping and killing of two students who went missing in Manipur on July 6. A CBI team will arrive in Imphal on Thursday to investigate the case.

The decision was taken within hours of the case being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation by the Manipur government. Photos of the bodies of the two students – Phijam Hemjit (20) and Hijam Linthoingambi (17) – who have been missing since July, went viral on social media on Monday.

In a post on X, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said both the state and central government are closely working together to nab the perpetrators. He said, that to further expedite this crucial investigation, the CBI Director, along with a specialised team, will be arriving in Imphal today morning on a special flight. Chief Minister said, their presence underscores the commitment of authorities to swiftly resolve this matter.
