CCTVs, GPS Tech to Curb Corruption in Odisha Mandis

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at all paddy procurement mandis in the state to curb corruption.

The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra, on Saturday said that measures are being initiated for installation of CCTV cameras in all mandis as soon as possible.

Added to it, GPS tracking devices will be installed in all the vehicles engaged in the transportation of the paddy to check prevent irregularities in the paddy procurement process, the Minister said.

The CCTV cameras will be installed in all mandis on a priority basis to ensure transparency. According to the minister, this project will be implemented in two months.

He also added that there is a proposal to set up cold storage units in each block of the state.
