Congress Obseves 12-Hr Bandh in Deogarh Over Alleged Irregularities in Paddy Procurement

Deogarh: A dawn-to-dusk bandh call was given by the Congress in Odisha’s Deogarh district alleging irregularities at paddy procurement mandis and anti-peasant policies of the state government.

The NH49 was blocked by Congress workers by placing paddy sacks at Nilabenisahi. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded because of this road blockade.

Shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed in Deogarh because of this bandh call. However, they excluded emergency services were excluded from the ambit of the bandh.

The protestors alleged that farmers are being exploited by the millers in the mandis.
