New Delhi: Chandrayaan-3 mission will be launched on July 13, announced Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The mission is designed to last one lunar night or 14 Earth days. It will explore the far side of the Moon
“We will be able to do a soft landing on the Moon. July 13 is the first possible launch day and it could go up to 19th,” the ISRO chief announced.
Till now, only three countries, the US, Russia, and China have landed a spacecraft on the Moon’s surface. If successful, India will become the fourth country to achieve this.
Chandrayaan-3 is in the final stages of being integrated with India’s heaviest launch vehicle, the GSLV Mk-III which will put it on a trajectory to the Moon.
It is the third edition of the Chandrayaan series. The ISRO will launch a lander-rover combination with Chandrayaan-3 to the Moon. ISRO will use the Orbiter launched with Chandrayaan-2 to coordinate with the new mission.
