Cuttack Stampede: Section 144 Imposed near Singhanath Temple for 2 Days

Cuttack: Section 144 CrPC is imposed near Singhanathdev temple by the local administration of Odisha’s Cuttack district after a woman was killed and several got injured following a stampede near the shrine.

The Executive Magistrate imposed Section 144 CrPC near the Singhanathdev temple for two days, Sunday and Monday. The official has also restricted the public from entering the T-bridge.

According to sources, a woman identified as Anjana Swain lost her life and ten others sustained injuries in the stampede on the Badamba- Gopinathpur T bridge over river Mahanadi in the Athagarh area of Cuttack district yesterday.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Over eight persons sustained severe injuries in the mishap. They were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his grief over the incident. He also announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the deceased. He also instructed the concerned officials to provide free treatment to all injured persons.
