Dalits Entry Prevented; TN Temple Sealed Following Casteist Tussle

Chennai: A temple in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram district was sealed on Wednesday after a rift between the dominant caste and the Dalits, as the latter was denied entry into the temple in April this year.

Reportedly, the district officials sealed the Droupadi Amman Temple near Melpadi fearing law and order problems, even as the rift between the dominant caste and the Dalits continues to rage.

Worth mentioning that in April this year, a person from the Dalit community had entered the temple, which the dominant caste objected to. After this, they barred the Dalits from entering the temple.
