Delhi Woman Death Case: Know What Went Down And What Cops Have Done Since

New Delhi: Delhi police has recovered CCTV footage showing the woman being dragged under the car for 12 kilometres.

Police have added culpable homicide among other stringent sections on Monday in the case following protests over the alleged “shoddy investigation”. Meanwhile, the post-mortem examination concluded at hospital.

According to FIR filed by the Delhi Police, the accused Deepak Khanna was driving while Manoj Mittal was sitting next to him, adding to that the accused Mithun Kumar & Amit Khanna were in back seat.

The FIR confirmed that the people in the car were aware that they had hit a woman on a scooty. Furthermore, two out of the five accused were drunk when the incident took place.

The 23-year-old woman, who worked with an event company, was returning home when her scooty was hit by a car. The occupants of the car, instead of getting down and helping the accident victim, fled the spot.

They reportedly did not realize that the woman’s body had got stuck in the car wheel and the 23-year-old was dragged for around 12 kilometres from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala.

The FIR registered said that a PCR call was received at about 3:24 am on January 1 at PS Kanjhawala ( Rohini District). The caller claimed “ek Baleno gaadi grey colour jo Qutubgarh ki side jaa rahi hai or usmei ek dead body bandhi hue hai jo niche latki hue hai (A grey Baleno car is travelling towards Qutubgarh and there is dead body hanging off the lower part of the car)”.

The caller also told the police about the registration number of the vehicle. The police alerted staff deployed at pickets and efforts were started to trace the vehicle.
