‘Drinking Water from Air’ during FIH Odisha Hockey World Cup 2023

Bhubaneswar: Drinking water will be extracted from the air during the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13-29, 2023. For this Watergen, the atmospheric drinking water devices (AWG) have entered into a partnership with Hockey India.

The company will extract fresh and safe drinking water from ambient air at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar and Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, Rourkela. This drinking water will be used by all present in the stadium free of cost.

Three types of units of the company that can produce 6000L, 600L and 30L water from air will be installed in the stadiums. Hockey India president Padma Shri Dilip Tirkey said, “Water is an integral part of any sport and as millions of people follow sports, we at Hockey India have an opportunity to inspire the world to adopt sustainable practices”.

The atmospheric water generators used for the purpose will collect humidity and water vapor in the air and condense it to liquid form for human consumption.
