Economic Blockade Agitation Disrupts Normal Life in Jajpur Road

Jajpur: Normal life and vehicular traffic were disrupted in Jajpur Road on Wednesday because of an economic blockade call given by the joint working committee of Vyasanagar Nagarika Samity. This economic blockade is for some longstanding demands of the citizens of the area. Except for two-wheelers, ambulance and other emergency vehicles, there was no other vehicular movement on the roads in Jajpur Road. All shops and commercial establishments remained closed. Despite scorching heat, the agitators demonstrated at several places and blocked the roads.

As per reports, activists from all political parties other than the BJD and various organisations extended support to this economic blockade. The committee had earlier put up a list of five demands before the state government. These demands include setting up of a super specialty hospital in Jajpur Road and naming of Jajpur Road to Vyasanagar. Earlier, as a pre-emptive measure, the district administration had issued notice against the committee head under section 107 of the CrPC but the strike was held.
