Ex-RI Terminated Following Conviction in Graft Case

Bhubaneswar: Satyanarayan Kumura, the former Revenue Inspector (RI) of Mahalei Revenue Circle at Telenpalli under Khaprakhol tehsil in Odisha’s Balangir district was dismissed from service on Tuesday following his conviction by the Vigilance court in a bribery case.

He was dismissed from government service under the provision of OCS (CCA) Rules, 1962.

This former revenue inspector of Mahalei revenue circle under Deogaon block of Balangir district was arrested by the vigilance officials while he was accepting bribe from a complainant for submitting an enquiry report in respect of the genealogy report of the land of his relative.

In March 2024, Special Judge of Vigilance, Balangir, convicted Kumura and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 4 years and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988.

The Court also sentenced him to RI for 3 years and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 for the offence under Section 7 of PC Act, 1988. Odisha Vigilance had moved the competent authority for the dismissal of Kumura from government service.
