Fake Spices Manufacturing Unit Unearthed in Cuttack

Cuttack: Personnel of the health wing of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malgodown police station busted a fake spice manufacturing unit on Saturday. The owner of the fake spices-producing factory, Arun Kumar Gantayat was arrested.

Around 20 quintal of fake spices like chilli, turmeric and coriander powder was seized from the premises of this fake spices manufacturing unit. Rice powder, artificial colours, chemicals and other additives used for adulteration was also seized. The seized items were worth around Rs 15-20 lakh.

Addressing media, Cuttack Zone 1 ACP Arun Kumar Swain informed that the accused trader was running this fake spices manufacturing unit since the last five months. Police are also trying to track down his network and other businessmen connected with him.

The seized items were sent to the laboratory for testing.
