Gandhiji’s Statue Vandalized in Canada; Second Such Incident in a Week

A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalized at a university campus in Burnaby of Canada. The Consulate General of India in Vancouver informed about it on Tuesday. This is the second attack on Gandhi’s statue in Canada within a week. A few days back another statue of the father of the nation was targeted by miscreants in Ontario.

The statue of Mahatma Gandhi vandalized recently is at Peace Square at Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby campus.

“We strongly condemn heinous crime of vandalising the statute of harbinger of peace Mahatma Gandhiji, @SFU Burnaby campus,” the Consulate General tweeted.

On March 23, anti-India elements defaced and spray-painted a statue of Mahatma Gandhi near the City Hall in the town of Hamilton in Ontario.

Attacks by Khalistani backers on Indian installations and temples are on the rise in Canada in recent months.
