Heavy Rain Alert in Odisha, Likely Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal

Odisha expects heavy rainfall till June 27. Added to it, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday forecasted the formation of a Low Pressure Area over Northwest Bay of Bengal, adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coasts.

Because of this low pressure system, squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph very likely over North Bay of Bengal adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal , along and off Odisha coast from June 25 to June 27 morning.

Fishermen were advised to not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast, North Bay of Bengal adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal during this period, the IMD said in its midday bulletin.

Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 20cm) is likely to occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal and Cuttack districts till 8.30 am on Sunday. Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) may also occur in Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri during this period.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at a few places in Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Balangir, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) at one or two places in Sambalpur, Sonepur and Boudh.

Yellow Warning (Be updated)

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Nuapada.

JUNE 26

Orange warning (Be Prepared)

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at a few places in Bargarh, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Boudh and Nawarangpur with extremely heavy rain (>20cm) at one or two places in Balangir, Kalahandi and Bargarh.

Yellow Warning (Be updated)

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) may occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput.

Yellow Warning (Be updated)

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar.
