Hospitals in Odisha to Get Power from Rooftop Solar Projects

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to augment power supply to healthcare institutions in tribal-dominated areas through rooftop solar projects.

As per the proposed plan, in the first phase of the project, rooftop solar panels will be installed in 100 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and 50 Community Healthcare Centres (CHCs) across the state. The Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) will be the nodal agency for the implementation of the project.

The health department has identified 150 government-run healthcare facilities for the installation of solar panels. Funds for the project will be provided from the Tribal Area Sub Plan (TASP) and Schedule Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) funds.

According to reports, the solar power projects are to be installed in four healthcare facilities in Cuttack district, 16 in Gajapati, 25 in Kandhamal, 15 in Koraput, 22 in Malkangiri, 49 in Nabarangpur, 17 in Rayagada, one hospital in Nuapada and one hospital in Mayurbhanj.
