Husband of Deceased Shilpi who Hanged Herself after Killing Her Step Son Arrested

Cuttack: The husband of deceased Shilpi Khuntia who committed suicide after killing her two-year-old stepson was arrested by the Cuttack police.

The arrested man was identified as Santosh Khuntia. Police arrested him based on the complaint filed by the family of the deceased.

Earlier, the body of Shilpi was found hanging in her home in the Sriram Nagar area under Madhupatna police station in Odisha’s Cuttack on Monday. The body of her two-year-old stepson was also found inside the house.

The throat of the boy was slit open by some sharp weapon.

Initial evidence hint that the woman may have committed suicide after killing her stepson. But the suspicion of foul play by someone else cannot be ruled out. Detail investigation will reveal the truth, police officials said.

The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary investigation suggests that conflict in the marital life of the deceased triggered her to take such an extreme step.
