Injured Odisha Health Min Naba Das airlifted from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health Minister Naba Das, who was critically injured by the gunshots fired at him by an ASI of police in Brajrajnagar on Sunday, was airlifted from the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, the seriously injured minister, who received bullets in his chest, was airlifted in a helicopter.

The firing incident took place at Gandhi Chhak of Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda district when the minister alighted from a car to attend a programme and his supporters were garlanding him.

He was immediately admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital of Jharsuguda. As his condition deteriorated, it was decided to shift him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare minister Naba Kishore Das was shot at by an assistant sub-inspector of police named Gopal Das. The ASI has been taken into custody for interrogation and investigation. ASI Gopal Das. As a policeman in uniform, Gopal Das could reach the Odisha Health Minister’s proximity to fire four to five rounds at his chest from his service revolver.

The accused cop was posted as an ASI at the Gandhi Chhak police outpost. The reason behind the extreme act by the ASI was yet to be known. The ASI used his service revolver to fire at the minister, said Gupteswar Bhoi, SDPO, Brajarajnagar.
