Ivory Smuggling Busted in Bhubaneswar; 2 Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Police have busted ivory smuggling in Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar. The cops have also arrested two persons in this connection.

The arrested smugglers were identified as Girish Kumar Nayak and Deepak Sahu.

According to sources, Maitri Vihar police conducted a check near the Sainik School Square and managed to arrest Girish Kumar Nayak and Deepak Sahu both from Kandhamal district. They recovered ivory weighing approximately 3kgs from their possession.

Apart from ivory, the personnel also seized the moped vehicle, three mobile phones and cash of Rs 160 from the possession of the accused.

The arrested accused were later handed over to the forest ranger for initiation of further action under section 51 of the wildlife protection act 1972. The seized articles were also handed over to the forest officials.
