Karnataka Polls: Counting Tomorrow, Check Details

Bengaluru: All arrangements are ready for the counting of votes polled in the Karnataka Assembly elections. Counting of votes will begin on Saturday at 8.00 am amid tight security. There are nearly 35 counting centers across Karnataka.

Karnataka had set a new record of 73.19 per cent voter turnout during the voting on May 10. The voter turnout this time broke the past record 72.44 per cent voting set in the 2018 Assembly elections in the state.

It was a triangular fight between the three main contenders for power in the state, the BJP, Congress, and the Janata Dal (Secular).

The electoral fortunes of top leaders – Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai (BJP) Congress veterans Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, among many others, will be known tomorrow.

Most exit polls have predicted a tight contest between the Congress and BJP. It is hoped that the JD(S) will play a catalytic role in government formation.

In the 2018 Assembly polls, the BJP had emerged as the single largest party, winning 104 seats, followed by Congress with 80 seats and the JD(S) with 37. There was also one independent member, while the BSP and the Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party (KPJP) won in one seat each.
