Keep Oxygen Stock Ready: Union Health Ministry Advises States

New Delhi: To remain prepared for any emergency related to a possible outbreak of COVID in the country, the Union Health Ministry has issued a fresh six-point advisory to the states.  All states have been advised to keep ample stock of oxygen ready for use in hospitals. All oxygen plants in hospitals are also ordered to be kept operational.

During the second wave of the COVID pandemic in India in 2021, oxygen shortage was a major problem.

“Though Covid cases in the country are low and not surging as of now, but to face any challenges arising in the future, the operationalisation and maintenance of these medical infrastructure is utmost importance,” the Health Ministry’s Additional Secretary Manohar Agnani said in the letter to the states.
COVID positive cases are still very low in India. But reporting of a few BF.7 strain positive cases has made the government alert. This coronavirus strain is now running amok in China.
