KGF Cops Seize Rs 4 Cr from Car in Kolar Ahead of Karnataka Polls

Bengaluru: The Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) Police on Thursday seized Rs 4 crore of unaccounted cash from a house and a car in Kolar’s Zion Hills. This seizure was made ahead of the Karnataka Assembly elections on May 10. It was suspected that the money was allegedly kept to be distributed among the voters.

“Unaccounted cash of Rs 4,04,94,500 seized from a house and a car in Zion Hills by KGF Police under the direct supervision of SP Dr Dharani Devi,” police said. Further investigation is underway.

The Income Tax department seized one crore rupees hidden in a box placed on a mango tree at the house of Subramania Rai in Karnataka’s Mysore on Wednesday. He is the brother of Congress’s Puttur candidate Ashok Kumar Rai.

On April 14, the Bengaluru police caught two men with Rs 1 crore unaccounted cash in an auto-rickshaw near the city market. On April 6, a total of Rs 50 lakhs of unaccounted cash was seized during from a car at Dundur check post in Gadag district.

The Karnataka assembly elections will be held in a single phase on May 10, with the counting of votes scheduled on May 13.
