Life Imprisonment for Woman & Her 3 Sons in 2018 Murder Case of Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: A woman and her three sons were convicted in a murder case and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Additional District Judge (ADJ) of Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district on Saturday. They were convicted of murdering a man over a land dispute in Kalahandi’s Atigaon village in 2018.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on all four convicts. The non-payment of the fine will lead to an increase in the jail term by one year.

As per the chargesheet, the victim, Chayakanta Dandasena was a peon at the RI office at Atigaon under the Junagarh police station. He was hacked to death by Radhu Dandasena, Pita Dandasena, and Jadu Dandasena. These three brothers were directed by their mother Kuchita Dandasena to commit the murder. The RI office peon was killed while Kuchita and her sons were trying to construct a house on a patch of government land by the side of the RI office. When Chayakanta opposed it, he was attacked and killed.
