Majority in Odisha Have not Taken Booster Doses of COVID Vaccine

Bhubaneswar: Only 41 per cent of eligible people have taken booster doses of COVID vaccine in Odisha. It means the majority of Odias, have not yet received the booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

According to medical experts, booster doses of COVID vaccines can allay the fear of a possible COVID outbreak.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government on December 23 requested the Centre to supply vaccines so that the vaccination drive can be taken up in the state.

Odisha Family and Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi on Tuesday informed that the state-sponsored vaccination drive had stopped in Odisha after November 28. But private hospitals are continuing with inoculation against coronavirus infection.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to hold a review meeting on the state’s preparedness in relation to COVID infection threat on Tuesday.

During the past two months number of new COVID-19 cases in Odisha has remained around 10 per day. But one case of BF.7, which has led to the outburst of COVID cases in China, has been detected in Odisha.
