Maoists Torch Vehicles Used in PMGSY Road Construction Work in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Maoists burnt down several vehicles engaged in PMGSY road construction work in the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday night.

The vehicles damaged by the Maoist arson included two earthmoving machines, two bulldozers and eight tractors. According to police sources, this incident of naxal violence occurred near Alparas village under Koyelibeda police station limits.

A total of 12 vehicles engaged in the construction of a 2-kilometre road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) were set on fire by the leftist vagrants.

The red rebels allegedly abducted the labourers at the camp of road construction firm and released them later. According to police sources, the concerned contractor had not informed the local police before starting the work because of which necessary security was not there at the spot.

Receiving information about the incident, Chhattisgarh police rushed to the spot and launched a probe.
