Miscreants Attack Mosque During Mass Namaz in Haryana’s Sonipat; 9 Injured; 16 Detained

Chandigarh: A mob of around 20 people vandalized a mosque and attacked persons offering namaz in Sandal Kalan village of Haryana’s Sonipat on Sunday. Around nine persons were injured in the attack.

The attackers were said to be locals from the same village.

An FIR has been registered against 19 people and police have detained 16 people in the case.

According to police sources, people offering Ramadan prayers in a small mosque built by the community in the village were attacked by a group of attackers carrying lathis in their hands.

The reason behind the incident is not ascertained. Around nine persons were injured in the incident. The injured were admitted to Sonipat Civil Hospital for treatment. Armed police have been deployed at the village to check any escalation of tension.
