Mob Attack on BSF Outpost in Meghalaya, 5 Injured

Shillong: At least 5 persons, including two BSF personnel and three locals were injured when a mob of villagers attacked a BSF outpost in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district on Sunday night.

According to BSF sources, this attack was related to the seizure of a huge number of items meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh by the BSF in the recent past. Irked by it mob instigated by the smugglers is alleged to have attacked the BSF outpost at around 10 pm on Sunday.

To disperse the mob, the BSF personnel at the outpost retaliated by by firing in the air.

The mob pelted stones that injured at least two BSF personnel. Some villagers also tried to enter the BSF outpost forcefully, and their attempt was thwarted by the BSF jawans. In the scuffle at least three villagers were also injured, said eyewitnesses.
