Mob Burns Down House of Honour Killing Accused in Himachal

Shimla: A mob of over 1000 persons burnt down the house of the honour killing accused in the Salooni area of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. The family of the accused could be evacuated in time.

Ten persons were arrested in relation to this arson. This honour killing has taken a communal turn in Himachal Pradesh as the accused is from the Muslim community.

Restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC were imposed in the area to check the escalation of tension.

Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has called for upholding unity and harmony and urged all to refrain from giving a political or communal colour to the incident.

A young man in a romantic relationship with a woman belonging to a minority community was murdered around a week back. His body was chopped into eight pieces and dumped of in a sewer. The victim had been missing since June 6. His body was recovered three days later.
