Mobile Phone Banned Inside Temples of Tamil Nadu

Chennai: No one will be allowed to take mobile phones inside temples in Tamil Nadu. The Madras High Court ordered for a ban on mobile phones in temples across Tamil Nadu.

According to the Madras High Court, this ban order on the use of mobile phone in temples is to maintain the purity and sanctity of the places of worship.

The court has also ordered for setting up of phone deposit lockers at all temples. Temple management will have to deploy special security guards to ensure proper management of this mobile phone ban order.

Madras High Court passed this order while deciding the plea for restriction on the use of mobile phones at the Subramanya Swamy temple. The petitioner argued that mobile phones distract people and clicking pictures of deities is a violation of the rules of agamas.

The petitioner also feared that photography could endanger the security of temples and pictures of women can be taken without their consent.
