One More Died in Khordha Firecracker Godown Explosion

Khordha: One more person succumbed to severe burn injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital following an explosion at a firecracker godown in Odisha’s Khordha district.

The deceased was identified as Maheshwar Behera. The other five persons who died earlier were identified as Bandavan Sahu, Niranjan Behera, Barju Behera, Sahadeva Behera and Dolagobinda Behera.

According to reports, the incident took place this afternoon when 7-8 persons were working inside the godown. Luckily, all escaped from the spot unhurt.

The scrap godown contained mainly plastic scrap which also included old automobile tyres. Meanwhile, the damage to property has not been ascertained so far

Plumes of smoke were seen in the sky while two firefighting teams made relentless efforts to tame the blaze.

It is apprehended that the blaze could spread to the nearby Barunei reserve forest area if not contained in time.
