Cameras Installed to Track Tigers’ Movement Stolen in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Two trap cameras installed by Forest Department personnel to track the movement of tigers in the Patana forest range of Odisha’s Keonjhar were allegedly stolen.

According to sources, two out of 10 cameras installed in the Attei reserve forest under the Patana range are missing.

Sudden theft of the cameras poses a risk to tigers, particularly the Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT) recently spotted in the area.

Recently, two Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT) have been sighted in forests in Keonjhar and Debrigarh.

The movement of the big cats was caught on cameras and the pictures are now going viral on social media platforms.

According to video footage which is in the possession of the forest department, the big cats seem to have entered the sanctuary recently.

The Forest department is trying to find out the species of the tiger from the pugmarks. Reportedly, a few months ago, an RBT was sighted at the Debrigarh sanctuary in the Sambalpur district.
