Delhi HC Slams Arvind Kejriwal For Prioritising Personal Interest By Not Resigning As CM

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday slammed Arvind Kejriwal for neglecting national interest by not resigning as the Chief Minister following his arrest.

The court rebuked the AAP-led Delhi government, accusing it of prioritising power over the welfare of its citizens.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last month in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.

The court also reprimanded the government for its failure to provide textbooks and uniforms to students in government schools, emphasizing that the authorities seemed indifferent to this crucial issue.

Previously, the court highlighted the importance of delegating financial power in the absence of the Standing Committee, which has been hindered due to various reasons, including legal disputes.

In response to the government’s argument regarding the legality of the Standing Committee’s formation, the court expressed dissatisfaction, indicating that the distribution of essential resources like textbooks should not be neglected due to bureaucratic hurdles.

Additionally, the court criticized Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj for ignoring the students’ plight and accused him of insincerity.

Despite the government’s contention that the matter is pending before the Supreme Court, the court emphasized its responsibility to address the issue as essential services are at stake.
