Hamas Offers to Release 33 Israeli Hostages, Including Those Dead

Jerusalem: Hamas has agreed to a proposed three-phase ceasefire and hostages-for-prisoners swap deal in the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The deal includes the release of Israeli hostages, regardless of their condition (including those dead), in exchange for Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners. The announcement has sparked optimism among the public.

According to the agreement, Hamas will gradually release Israeli hostages, prioritising women, over several weeks. In return, Israel will release Palestinian prisoners as per lists provided by Hamas. The withdrawal of Israeli forces from specified areas in Gaza is also part of the plan.

However, Israeli officials have expressed reservations about the softened terms of the deal, stating it does not meet their essential demands. Despite this, negotiations will continue in hopes of reaching a resolution.

Hamas has insisted on a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, aiming for a permanent ceasefire. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has vowed to proceed with military action in Rafah to pressure Hamas, rejecting their demand to end the conflict as a condition for releasing hostages.
