Parents of A Man with Rs 30 Cr Property Denied Proper Food; Commit Suicide in Frustration

Chandigarh: An elderly couple committed suicide by consuming poison in Haryana on March 29 alleging that they were victims of atrocities of their son. In the suicide note left behind, the couple said their son owned property worth Rs 30 crore but refused to feed them.

The deceased persons were Jagdish Chandra Arya (78) and his wife Bhagli Devi (77). Both were found dead in their home in the Shiv Colony of Badhra in Charkhi Dadri.

The aged couple called up the police control room before consuming the poison. In a suicide note, Jagdish Chandra Arya alleged that his son, who owns property worth Rs 30 crore, refused to provide them with even two meals a day.

Earlier the couple used to live with their other son, Mahender. Six years back Mahender died and their daughter-in-law forced them to stay in an old-age home for two years, Arya alleged in the suicide note.

Then they decided to stay with their other son, who they said owns property worth Rs 30 crore. But the elderly couple was allegedly given stale food. Fed up with the treatment meted out by his own son, Jagdish Chandra Arya, and Bhagli Devi decided to end their lives.

Arya stated in the suicide note that he had left a property in his name and it should be given to Arya Samaj in Badhra and family members responsible for the atrocities should be punished.

Virender, the son of the deceased couple, claimed that his parents were troubled due to illness and that was why they took the extreme step.
