2 Crushed to Death Under Temple Chariot in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Two persons were crushed to death under the wheels of a ceremonial temple chariot in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Bandu Katakadonda (35) and Sobu Shinde (55).

This mishap happened during a temple chariot festival in Lachyana village under the Vijayapura district.

A large crowd had gathered to take part in the temple chariot festival at the village. A sudden stampede triggered the accident. Pushed by the running crowd, the two victims fell under the heavy wheels of the chariot.

One person was also injured in the stampede. He was admitted to the district hospital.
