Police Aspirant Dies During Physical Test in Odisha’s Ganjam

Ganjam: A youth died after falling sick while appearing for a physical test for recruitment of a constable in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The deceased was identified as Diptiranjan Das of Shyamsundarpur village under Khallikote block.

According to reports, Das reportedly fell sick after running for 1600 metres during the physical test.

“The aspirant was participating in the running practice when he fell unconscious. Initially, he was rushed to a hospital at Chhatrapur and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where he died during treatment,” said Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena.

“It is suspected that the aspirant died due to cardiac arrest. A case was registered at the MKCG outpost in this regard. However, the exact reason can be ascertained only after post-mortem,” SP Jagmohan Meena further added.

Investigation into the matter is underway.
