Political Plan Up: Mamata Banerjee & Nitish Kumar to Meet on Monday

Kolkata: Bihar CM and JD (U) head Nitish Kumar is scheduled to meet West Bengal CM and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday.

According to political observers, this meeting can be seen as an effort towards building up opposition unity before the 2024 Lok Sabha election. During the past few months, Mamata Banerjee has met several non-BJP and non-Congress leaders on the issue of Opposition unity to build up a front against the BJP. Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and former CM of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy has already met Mamata Banerjee at her Kalighat residence. She also met BJD supremo and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik during her visit to Puri and Bhubaneswar.

She has held telephonic talks with Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin with the request for a meeting of opposition parties to discuss the role of the Governor.

Recently in a press conference, Mamata Banerjee claimed that the BJP would not cross 200 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. She also hinted at unity among the opposition parties. She said the opposition parties should be united and who becomes the Prime Minister will be decided later.
