Posing as UP CM’s Advisor Cheat Cons Rs 79 Lakh

Lucknow: Claiming himself as advisor of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a conman took away Rs 79 lakh rupees from a retired jawan of the Indian Army. The victim Manoj Kumar Sharma has filed a complaint at Gomti Nagar police station of UP.

According to the victim, the cheat had extracted his hard-earned savings in the name of providing a partnership in a commercial project. Sharma retired from the Army in 2018. He was aspiring to start a business after retirement. At that time he came across one I.B.Singh, who claimed to be an advisor of the UP Chief Minister.

The retired jawan did not suspect that Singh was a cheat. The cheat took Sharma to two other persons, who posed as a retired judge and director of a mining company. The conman extracted Rs 79 lakh from Sharma in the name of a business project, of which Sharma was given a 40 percent partnership.

But no business project materialized. With time Sharma could realise that he had been duped. The cheats also did not return back his money. Having no other way out, Sharma had to approach police for action. UP police have initiated an investigation to nab the cheat and his associates in the crime.
