Punjab Govt Imposes Restrictions in Lahore Ahead of Former PM Imran Khan’s Rally

Lahore (Pakistan): The Punjab government has imposed restrictions ahead of the election rally of the party after former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday announced that he would be leading the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf election rally in Lahore today.

This is the second time in less than a week that the interim government has severely been criticised as the caretaker set-up for being partial.  Punjab caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir said that the former Prime Minister has once again announced holding a rally on an important day.

It will be the first rally that Imran Khan will lead in over four months as he was mobilising the party from his Zaman Park residence.  The former Pakistan Prime Minister had been at home as he was recovering from an injury he sustained last year.

The general elections in Punjab (Pakistan) are scheduled to be held on the 30th of April, while the date for the polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is yet to be announced.
