Rahul Gandhi Vacates Official Bungalow; Says “Paying Price for Speaking Truth”

New Delhi: As he is no more a member of Lok Sabha, the Congress leader on Saturday vacated the bungalow allotted to him after he won from Amethi in 2004.

Speaking to the media after vacating his house, Rahul Gandhi said, “Main sach bolne ki kimat chuka raha hu (I am paying the price for speaking the truth).” He said that he would stay at 10 Janpath, the residence of his mother Sonia Gandhi for some time.

The Lok Sabha Housing Committee had issued a notice to Rahul Gandhi to vacate his bungalow at 12 Tughlaq Lane by April 22.

Rahul Gandhi was convicted and sentenced to two-year imprisonment by a Surat court over his “why all thieves have Modi surname” remark. Following it he was disqualified as an MP.
