Rajesh Malhotra Takes Charge as Principal Director-General of the PIB

New Delhi: Senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Rajesh Malhotra assumed charge as the Principal Director-General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB). While in this post, he will also be the principal spokesperson of the Government of India.

Malhotra succeeded Satyendra Prakash. Malhotra, a 1989-batch IIS officer has over 32 years of experience in planning and implementation of media and communication strategies for various central government ministries. He has worked for finance, corporate affairs, agriculture, power, coal, mines, communications and IT, textiles, labour, and renewable energy ministries in the past.

He was appointed as the Principal Director General of the Central Bureau of Communication last year. He was looking after the publicity of the Ministry of Finance in the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

He has experience in planning and implementing media and communication strategies during the six general elections to the Lok Sabha, and elections for the President and Vice-President of India.
